Wrestlers in the news

Week 2 Results

Week Two brought us to the Riverside Rumble and a disappointing 15th place finish, out of 16 teams. The highlights were Dustin Cromie and Ronnie Adkins 3rd place finishes. Dustin had a very nice lateral drop in the finals to pin his opponent in 3:32. Ronnie once again finished 3rd in the Rumble with his 1-0 victory over his opponent from Jefferson. The only other placer was William Wilburn in 6th place. Also of note, Zak Adkins picked up his first varsity win with a :35 second pin over his opponent from Jefferson. We are next in action at Normandy's Kalin Invitational Tournament on Sat. 12/22.

Week 1 Results

Week one is in the books.

We opened with a tri-match with Shaw and Collinwood. In the first match, Collinwood defeated Shaw by the score of 48 to 25.

In the next match, we destroyed Shaw by the score of 57-21. Winning by forfeit were Payton Wainwright, Landel Carter, Tim Lake, Collin Wheeler, and Jacob Perpar. In head-to-head matches, Euclid was 4-4 against Shaw. This was due to people not at the right weights. Winning for the first time this year were Ibrahim Shafau (pin 1:52), Will Wilburn (dec. 7-4), Anthony Black (pin 1:01) and Dustin Cromie (pin :43). We will see them again at the L.E.L. duals in Bedford to improve on the head-to-head mark.

The last match of the day had us taking on Collinwood. This match had a lot of forfeits too. Picking up those were Anthony Thomas, Tim Lake, Ronnie Adkins, and Edwin Chandler. We faired better in head-to-head matches by going 6-4 against the Railroaders. Winning for the Panthers were Payton Wainwright (pin 5:48), Landel Carter (pin 3:59), Will Wilburn (pin 1:01), Collin Wheeler (last second takedown for an exciting 7-6 win), Jacob Perpar (pin 2:52), and Dustin Cromie (pin 1:59).

Next up for the Panthers is the Riverside Rumble at Painesville Riverside on Fri. and Sat. 12/14-15.

Preparation

"Most battles are won before they are fought"
-Sun Tzu

Are we prepared for Saturday? Did you do all you could in practice? Did you push yourself to the limit? Did you do five extra push-ups when all you had to do was 25? Did you run extra sprints? Did you properly hydrate yourself and watch what you ate? Did you do all that you could to prepare or did you do just enough? We will see on Saturday night.

Home Match vs. East Cleveland Shaw and Collinwood

The first match of the season will be on Saturday in the East/Boys Gym at the high school. The start time is at 7PM. Admission is $3.00 for students and $5.00 for adults. The snack bar should be open for treats and there will be programs available. There will be three matches altogether. Euclid will wrestle both Collinwood and Shaw and they will both wrestle each other. Come out and support your team as they have been practicing hard for months in anticipation for this. Go Panthers.

Also, all of Mr. Turk's classes will receive double or triple extra credit for coming to the match.

Getting ready for the start of the season

We are well underway with practices and our new uniforms have just come in. Orders for new navy and blue headgear went in today and we should have those soon. Our compression shirt orders are going in tomorrow. They will be navy blue with each wrestlers name on the back in gold. Last week, we took the urinalysis tests and the results are in and were passed out today at practice. A few more wrestlers have to take them tomorrow and they will be ready to join the lineup.
Next Wednesday will be our first wrestle-offs for the opening home match with Shaw and Collinwood. Also on that day uniforms and bags will be passed out.

Eastlake North Preview

This Saturday will be a wrestling preview at Eastlake North High School which starts at 9AM. We will meet at the school at 8AM then take the bus over at 8:15AM. The format for this practice is that mats are set up in the gym. We will warm up then they will call out weight groups to take the mats. Wrestlers will go full-go with a wrestler from another school for one minute then they will switch partners. They will do this for five or six go's before another grouping of wrestlers are called out. The first group will then have a rest before they do it again. No scores will be kept. This is just a big practice with a lot of teams so that we see how we are doing at this moment and wrestle with others we do not see in practice. Parents and friends are not encouraged to attend due to this being a practice. We should be home before the OSU/ Michigan game.
