First Match

All the sweat and hard work that we have put in this off-season will be on display soon.
Tomorrow our season kicks off with a triangular at Eastlake North, with Ashtabula Lakeside. We beat Lakeside 46-24 last year and they are looking for revenge this year. We did not face Eastlake North last year, but they defeated us 34-27 the year before.
Bus leaves at 4:15PM for a 5:00PM weigh-in. Wrestling starts at 6:00PM.
Good luck Panthers.

Aurora Practice

Saturday is our first scrimmage at Aurora High School. We will begin there at 9:00 AM, which means that wrestlers need to be at school by 7:45 AM to catch the bus to Aurora. Wrestlers need to turn in their emergency medical cards to Coach Turk otherwise they will not be permitted to ride with the team. The emergency cards go with us wherever we go in case of emergencies, so that we will have contact information on each wrestler. The practice will be over by 12:00 PM and we will then come back to the school.

Districts @ Massillon Perry

Jacob Perpar opened up with a victory, and his first district win in three attempts, on Friday night with his second defeat of Shawn Dell this year. This time was a hard fought 19-10 win. He then dropped a 13-2 decision to Massillon Perry's transfer and former Texas state-placer, Courtland Harrison. He then lost a consolation match to Kavin Henry from Maple Heights, by a tight 6-5 decision. Zak Adkins lost his opening match to Garland McCormick in :25 seconds and then ran out of time against the wrestler from Canfield and lost 6-5 in his district debut.

Sectionals @ Maple Heights

The team came home from sectionals with a 8th place finish and 2 district qualifiers. They also had two district alternates. Finishing in 2nd place for the second year was Jacob Perpar. Zak Adkins was the surprise qualifier for the squad. He put together a nice weekend for a 3rd place finish to qualify for districts as a sophomore. Dylan Norwood and Rynell Roper, a sophomore and freshman respectively, also wrestled well and just missed out on a trip to districts. They still traveled with the team as alternates, in case someone did not make weight or had another problem.

VASJ

The regular season ended on a sad note with a 55-18 loss to rival VASJ. After beating them for the first time in 6 years last year, the Vikings got their revenge in a big way. The only Panther victors were Jacob Perpar, Dennis Martin, and Brandon Eggleston. Noland Renfroe had Vikings state placer Tim Triskett on the ropes before losing a tough 11-10 decision.

Senior Night

The team wrapped up the home season with a Senior Night dual against Chagrin Falls. The team was victorious by the score of 39-21. Seniors Noland Renfroe 21-13, Jacob Perpar pin 3:15, and Brandon Eggleston pin :35 were triumphant in their last home match. Thanks seniors!

Trinity

Euclid traveled to Trinity for the Trojans only home match of the year. They were bad guests as we beat them 36-19 on their home floor. Winning matches for the team were Noland Renfroe, Zak Adkins, Dylan Norwood, Rynell Roper, Jacob Perpar, and Brandon Eggleston.

L.E.L. Erie Division Dual Tournament

After coming in 2nd in the L.E.L. last year, the team slide one spot, to 3rd, this year in the league meet held at Bedford. The wrestlers opened up with a hard fought 51-18 victory over new rival Shaw. Admiral King again bettered the Panthers 50-29 in the next match, to ruin hopes for a L.E.L. championship. They bounced back with a 54-6 dismantling of Warrensville Heights before a tough 48-28 loss to the defending champions of Bedford. Even though the 3rd place finish was disappointing, of the nine wrestlers that competed four won L.E.L. titles. Jacob Perpar, Zak Adkins, Rynell Roper, and Noland Renfroe all won their first titles. We also had three wrestlers come in 2nd.

Avon Lake tri.

To make up for a snow day, the match with Avon Lake and Admiral King was moved to Feb. 4th. The meet was held at Southview High School in Lorain because of conflicts at all participating schools. We dropped two lopsided decisions in this tri. mostly due to forfeits, but also due to some bad wrestling. Avon Lake was victorious by a 46-21 score in a match where we saw one of our wrestlers pin himself when he was in control of the match. Against Admiral King, we dropped a 42-19 match.

Week 5 Results Pt.2

After a disappointing result the night before, the Panthers got back on track by defeating three opponents at home the next day. They started with a 37-27 defeat of Collinwood, followed up by a 45-24 victory over Shaw, then ended with a 36-12 win over Trinity. The team has not lost a home meet in 5 years. This was a needed sweep to build up our confidence again.

Week 5 Results

The team traveled to Avon Lake to take on North Olmsted and Columbia on Jan. 30th. The team is battling even though they had to forfeit 6 weight classes. They lost to North Olmsted 33-24 and Columbia 36-30 with the forfeits. Against Columbia they went 4-2 in the matches they wrestled each other. Without the forfeits who knows what would have happened at this meet.

Geneva T.K. Duals

The team finished a disappointing 7th out of 8 teams at the T.K. Duals. They dropped their opening match to Lakewood 53-13, then an embarrassing 74-0 blowout to Geneva, only to get beaten 50-19 by Jefferson. They rebounded in their last match to defeat a game Wickliffe squad in the last bout to win 36-33.

Perry Pin City Tournament

The team finished in 11th place at the Perry Pin City Tournament. Jacob Perpar once again finished in 2nd place, this time to Ironman 3rd place finisher, Adam Walters. Brandon Eggleston finished 3rd in a very tough weight class. 6th place finishes were turned in by Dennis Martin, Rynell Roper, Noland Renfroe, and Dylan Norwood.

Week 2 Results Pt. 2

The team traveled to Parma Normandy for the Kalin Invitational Tournament. The team finished in 5th place with Jacob Perpar finishing in 2nd place to a state qualifier from Normandy. Also placing for the Panthers were Noland Renfroe, Collin Wheeler, and Brandon Eggleston. A fourth place finish was picked up by William Wilburn, while fifth place finishes were brought home by Dennis Martin and Rynell Roper. A scary moment happened when Lamar Gunter was knocked unconscious on a takedown attempt and was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures.

Week 2 Results

The wrestling team won their first dual meet of the season against Ashtabula Lakeside by the score of 46 to 24. Winning for the Panthers were Rogdric Orozco, Noland Renfroe, Dylan Norwood, Rynell Roper, Jacob Perpar, Kevin Conroy, Edwin Chandler, and Brandon Eggleston.

The team then dropped their next match against the host team, the Chardon Hilltoppers, by a 45 to 24 decision. Picking up wins for the team were Noland Renfroe, Rynell Roper, Jacob Perpar, Kevin Conroy, and Brandon Eggleston.
