Week Five: Maple Hts. Maroon and White Duals

On Saturday the team traveled to Maple Heights for the first Maroon and White Dual Tournament. Maple Hts. coach, Jamie Milkovich wants this to be a tournament of inner-ring schools to gain five matches in a day and some exposure to colleges. We began the day against the host Mustangs Maroon team and took one on the chin by a 57-21 score. We bounced back in the next round with a 54-30 victory over Wickliffe. We continued the day by beating a Maple Hts. White team 60-22. Three-in-a-row was the goal when we took on John Adams and came away with a 47-27 victory. Going into the last match of the day, against Glenville, the team was looking to close with yet another win. That would be denied, with the Panthers dropping a close 39-35 dual to the Tarblooders. The match could have been different if we did not have to forfeit the 152 lb. weight class. After weigh-ins, our starter had an allergic reaction and his face started expanding, (Pictures to come) and he had to leave to get treatment. Otherwise, it was a successful day and we walked away with a 3-2 dual meet record. Overall, we are now 7-4 and 3-0 in the L.E.L. Keep up the good work Panthers!
