Week Four: Perry Pin City Tournament

The wrestling team traveled out to Perry, Ohio for the fifth consecutive year for the Pin City Tournament, held at the big fieldhouse. Last year, with a snow day postponing the tournament and making it into a one-day tournament, our team finished in dead last. We improved this year, by a remarkable 11 spots, to finish in 6th place.
In addition to our team improvement, we also had three finalists, and one champion, with Dylan Norwood @ 171 taking home the title. Zak Adkins and Rynell Roper fell just short of their goal with a runner-up finish. Lamar Gunter, who continues to wrestle well, came in fourth for the Panthers. Rounding out the placers in the championship bracket were Jeremy Adkins, 7th @ 112 and Michael Hobson, 8th @ 189.
The consolation bracket success of some of our wrestlers greatly helped us climb the leader board. Anthony Martin and Noah Brown took home consolation championships. Darsheed Mustafa finished second and Robert Reeves, Mike Figer, Jared Clinton, and Reggie Phillips all finished in 4th.
The coaches are very proud of how the team is progressing as we enter the dual meet portion of our season. Keep up the great work wrestlers!
